Dressed in a brown coat with a richly brocaded waistcoat and cuffs, with a lace trimmed white shirt and lace neck cloth. The sitter has brown gloves, one of which is held by the left hand: the right is bare and holding what may be a hat. By Rycault's left hand is a sword hilt.
