I lay out the drawing in charcoal and then add pastel colours as I go

I should add that the Japanese enjoy a special green plum the prunus mume which is pickled

The feel and sound of coating reeds in wet earth and then laying them on paper and enjoying what emerges

September at North Wood fruits I lay out the drawingThis is a lovely spot to sit throughout the year and draw and contemplate the changing seasons. On the Dartington estate alongside the Deer park a track runs down to the North wood. I like to work from some of the sketches and drawings I have made during my visits and as in this case begin to work them up to a painting.
