I was told it was an early American Staffordshire Terrier

Spine of the case is splitting

but the image is overall very good and the emulsion completely stable

On the back is written,"Return from three week trip in Northern Canada 1883". Photographer's studio imprint is Martial of Montreal, Canada. 6. 5" x 4. 25". Very good or better antique condition.
