AMBROTYPE HANDSOME CIGAR SMOKING SOUTHERN MAN WEARING SAILOR HAT + EARRING? GAY costumes On the back in period1 9 plate ambrotype of man wearing sailor's straw sennet hat and smoking a cigar. His ear MIGHT be pierced, but I'm not 100% sure. Full case. This is a clear glass ambrotype with a second piece of glass affixed to the first, sandwiching the emulsion in between the two pieces. There are some defects some people say they look like air pockets between the pieces of glass, but they are not detracting. The largest defect is on his shoulder (on our left).
