It is a blend of iron, mica enriched clay, and the natural ash accumulation from the wood firing process. Unusual micro crystals forming on the surface of the piece are directly due to the slow cooling of the kiln in the presence of the natural minerals in the clay and wood ash that collects along the clay surface. A
