Since listing it we also found a 1963 photos of the dress in a different colour way

The pattern on the front is a superb with the neckline detailing ringed in a frame of studs set to suggest a leaf like design

I love the use of pink and gold lame thread through the fabric - it adds a beautiful richness to the design and also serves to highlight the cut

From there the skirt flares out to the floor in a gradually widening line and the skirt is quite full by the time it reaches the floor

The skirt is a masterpiece of pleat work and an example of how finely done a pleat can be - each is very deep and uses an excessive amount of fabric - only in couture would this be as the cost would be prohibitive in RTW to so this -  and each line of the pattern in the silk brilliantly lines up perfectly with the ones beside it when the pleat closes
